Eventually, the grasslands change from a sea of grass to a rocky, patchy area with towering, rocky formations and a much hotter climate. Variety National Park uses the Mesa primarily for geological research, but you can still hike our desperdo trail and camp at several sites. The region is closed for activities during the summer season, and it is strongly reccommended to always stay hydrated in the mesa, even if you are just passing through!
Hiking and camping are the primary forms of entertainment in the mesa. Explore beautiful sedimentary formatons and camp underneth the stars, or visit the 'Rock Station' and learn all about the unique geological formations in the Mesa.
