Easily our hottest and most arid region, the desert resides in the southern-most part of Variety National Park. Only open during the fall and winter seasons, this region can reach temperatures of over 145 degrees farenheit. Still, several species call this region home, such as several tough grasses, cacti, and reptiles. Our research sation Alpha is a state of the art facility that helps us conserve and monitor the desert area in extreame conditions!
While there is little to do at the desert area, visitors are welcome to stop by the research center and take a tour. On certain days, it is even cool enough to spend a few hours out amongst the sand dunes, with sand sleding being an all time favorite of many! Be sure to read our guide to safety for the desert region, and make sure to drink lots of water!
